A lot people tell a lot of other people that in the beginning it’s all about your resume. That your work is all about your resume. Well, I’ve had my share of that advice, I am sure you’ve too; Scott Dinsmore has had it given to him too, and the video below is exactly about why you should not bother about your resume.
Now, that’s easier said than done. If you’re holding a job right now, you’re one of the very few people out there who are able to do this. But are you holding it down for the right reasons? - That list of the right reasons, does not, and should not contain ‘building your resume’ in it. A better advice to people looking to start fresh, or looking to simply start somewhere would be that they spend some more time in getting to know what they want, and what matters to them.
Finding out what matters to you, and then finding work in such a domain does wonders. Don’t take my word for it, watch the video embedded below.
How To Find Work You Love? What Does Success Mean To You?
Scott Dinsmore’s job made him feel like banging his head against the wall. Eventually he quit, and started out on a journey to answer one question - How To Find Work You Love?
The talk may come across as simple, but the process involved in actually finding the work that matters to you, work that you want to be a part of, and work that is essentially your identity is tough. You have to try a lot of “jobs”, before you land up finding work that you love doing. You’ve to find what, and who makes up - you. That’s a tall order, one which will take copious amounts of time with yourself, time to learn more about yourself. And yes there’s a process involved. And yes, Scott Dinsmore’s talk explains this process, or rather what worked for him as a process in this video.
His process starts off with one simple question - Why’re you doing what you’re doing?
