Japanese art has always brought about some form of awe within me. It inspires, and intimidates, almost always. The simple lines, monographic color tones, the swift, graceful brush strokes, minimalism, and the sense of durability is what I see, when I look at any kind of Japanese art work. Be it paintings, calligraphy or architecture; there’s something within a Japanese design and/or artwork that moves me. There’s a sense of patience in there, that I can’t quite explain. There’s a hint of some traditional customs; somewhere, within them. There’s also history, within them. All of this, sometimes does bring about a sense of wonder; and yes, I do get carried away!

Japanese logos then, are a form of this artwork too! I love how simple, and straight forward most of them can be. And, almost always these are made with lines or brush strokes; at least at first. Something that has ever held my interest. So, I thought I did share some of them here, on this blog; some that bring about a calming effect, almost zenful; for me, these are very inspiring, and bold.

Bonus: Japanese Design Board

While working on this post, I thought I’d make a Pinterest board ; for Japanese design in general, and for inspiration. The board would be updated whenever I come across a Japanese art work that’s awesome. If you have any links, etc to share, pertaining to Japanese design, please do!

Here’s the Pinterest board. Follow if you like!
